Issue 115: Who Has Climbed the Mountain Before You?

Surround yourself with people who believe in you and will help you Bounce-Up™ higher and stronger.

Guess what time it is? In this fourth edition of our Inner Circle series, it’s time to start building your most effective Power Team, aka Circle of Influence. It’s time to be proactive in choosing the people who believe in you, lift you higher, and help you hit your goals.

Your first Inner Circle member is your Mountain Guide. Your Mountain Guide is the person who has already attained the pinnacle you want to reach. Been there. Done that.  They didn’t read a book about it or ask for advice on social platforms to pass on. They maneuvered through the trenches. They conquered the obstacles to reach the top of the mountain. They have the scars, bruises, experiences, and stories to prove they’ve accomplished it. Also, they have suggestions and tips that will short-cut your track to where you want to go.

Who Would Be a Good Mountain Guide?

  • They have the experience.

  • They’ve been where you want to go.

  • They have similar core values.

  • They are role models.

  • They have a positive outlook.

Now, look at the list you created from Bounce-Up™ Chronicles Issue 114. Is anyone in the plus (+) column who could be your Mountain Guide? If not, start brainstorming ideas of people who have achieved what you want to do. Put a list together, then choose the person who fits best and schedule a conversation. Remember, if you ask the person to meet you for coffee or lunch, cover the cost. 😊

Bounce-Up Momentum Builder

Here are a few questions to help you identify your Mountain Guide.

  1. Who is the person who has climbed the mountain successfully and has the proof to show it?

  2. Is there a member from one of the organizations you belong to that could be your Mountain Guide?

  3. Who in your professional network mentors others or offers suggestions to help other level up?

Mj Happenings

  • I finished the four-week communication, customer service, and sales training for an employee-owned, multi-location company in the kitchen and bath industry. My summer intern joined me and snapped a few photos.

  • One association booked my How to Pivot, Thrive, and Bounce-Up program for five locations in 2023. Woohoo.

Until next time, Power-Up, Play-Up™, and Bounce-Up™!
