Issue 116: Do You Have Intentional Accountability that Promotes Success?

Accountability is the glue that bonds commitments to results.
— Bob Proctor

When was the last time you’ve been accountable? You could think, “Mj, I’m accountable to my partner, boss, supervisor, or board of directors.” And yes, you could be. However, today, in this Bounce-Up Chronicles Issue, we’re continuing our Circle of Influence Series, talking about intentional accountability. It isn’t about being accountable to someone else’s goals or vision. It’s about being accountable to you and what you want to accomplish.

We often go through our days checking off our to-do lists and making good on our commitments. In the wave of scheduled days, we lose track of what we want to start, do, or achieve for ourselves. The days slip away faster and faster as the year progresses. Think about it. We’ve hit the second half of the year. Where are you with what you want to accomplish in 2023?

So how do you stay intentionally accountable? Consider a two-prong accountability program. One prong is your Accountability Partner; the other is a system for tracking what you do or do not accomplish weekly.

My Accountability Partner, Laura, and I have met weekly for almost eight years. First, we work in quarters—12 weeks at a time. We review our goals for the past week, the score for what we’ve completed, and update our actions for the coming week. And yes, we score our progress each week because what gets measured gets done.

This two-prong accountability system is a tool I’ve implemented in my business and had proven successful even while I have maneuvered through the roller coaster of Pink Ribbon treatments.

Additionally, we weave in questions, such as “Where do you need help? Is that list of tactics doable with this week’s schedule? What could stop you from finishing these projects? Where is your energy level to make this happen?”

And at times, there might be a little kick in the behind to get one of us moving forward.

  4. What would be an ideal starting date to kick off your Intentional Accountability program?

Mj Happenings

During the whirlwind of speaking and training programs, I finished one of my quarterly projects. Woohoo. For more than 10 years, as an adjunct instructor, I taught writing and marketing classes at a local college. The marketing/selling component was always filled with many questions, examples, and excitement. Recently, I taught it again at a colleague’s request, emphasizing authors, consultants, and speakers. With that fresh in mind, I turned it into The DIY Media Kit. You can grab yours here for an introductory special.

Here’s to you reaching your goals!

Until next time, Power-Up, Play-Up™, and Bounce-Up™!
